Deal volumes have dropped a little since the summer with 15 in November, slightly down on 17 in October.
Six November deals were acquisitions. Xpediator followed its Benfleet acquisition in October with the £2m acquisition of Regional Express in November. The firm also announced a £3m share placing to raise money for further acquisitions.
Newly listed Angling Direct also made its second acquisition since its IPO, with the purchase of NorthWest Angling Centre & Tacklesaver. Other acquisitive firms in the month were Safestore, James Dolan, JRL Group and Midwich Group.
There were six business sales in November with OpenIOLabs, PEME, Britton Financial, BFT Mastclimbing, City Lettings and Assimilated Communications. Five of these were trade sales, with one private equity transaction, Equistone’s acquisition of BFT Mastclimbing.
Rounding off the month were three fundraising transactions for Oakham Ales, Sopp Parts and another private equity transaction with BGF’s investment in Cornwall Insight.

Management buy outs are another way of buying or selling a business – it is a sale of the business to a management team. However, in most cases, you as a group of managers will not have the funds to buy the business and will require assistance from banks, private equity and the vendor.
Business sales, MBOs and acquisitions all require strategic advice. Before embarking on one of these major projects, we can help you to analyse your past, prepare a financial model of your business’ future and develop your business plan for you and your team.
