Forward East Anglia Market Monitor – Q2 2019

Deal volumes in East Anglia continue to trail last year, with 47 deals recorded in Quarter 2 of 2019 compared to the 57 deals recorded in Q2 of 2018. However,there are some signs of recovery compared with Q1 of 2019, which saw just 31 deals.

Looking at the overall region, this quarter saw Hertfordshire lead the way with fifteen deals. Cambridgeshire closely followed at fourteen deals, giving these two counties 62% of all deals, followed by Essex with eight and Suffolk with seven.

Technology deals continue to dominate with 26% of all deals, suggesting this sector is more resilient to the current market uncertainty. However, business support services also performed strongly with 19% followed by manufacturing and construction with 17%.

In terms of types of deals business sales top the list at 21, followed by eleven acquisitions and nine fundraising transactions.
