Forward Corporate Finance is pleased to announce that Sue Young has joined the company as Business Development Manager. Founded in 2017 Forward is rapidly growing its reputation in the East Anglia market for high quality corporate finance advice. Notable deals over the last year included the sale of EDS Engineering to MEL Group, the sale of Slate Hall Group to CVS plc, and the investment by Mobeus Equity Partners into Ventrica.
Sue has enjoyed a long and very varied career in banking, spanning 35 years until 2017. She started her working life with Natwest and qualified as ACIB in the 1980’s. The last 15 years were spent with the Corporate and Commercial Team in East Anglia; most recently as Business Development Director with responsibility for new SME and Corporate clients across Suffolk and North Essex. She led and developed the wider management team to grow the bank’s asset book with new to bank customers, successfully year on year.
She has worked on deals in a variety of sectors – leisure, healthcare, agriculture, professional practices, hotels, manufacturing, piers. Key to this is building strong working relationships with business owners and their advisors, structuring and funding deals that work.
After 15 years Sue took an 18-month break, with some fun in the fashion retail world (including the catwalk!), but she missed the buzz of the business world. Sue is joining Forward to help drive continued growth for the business.
Outside work, Sue can be found learning to play golf, spending time with her 3 grown up children and husband, walking the dog, dressmaking and ideally travelling to somewhere exotic for a holiday.
Sarah Moores, co-founder commented, “As we approach the end of our second year in business it felt the right time to look at expanding our team with some business development expertise. Sue has great contacts in East Anglia and will help us spread our message to a wider audience allowing us to offer our service to more great SMEs.”
Rob Dukelow-Smith, co-founder added, “As a small team balancing the time spent on client work versus being out developing new business is a challenge. Sue will help us to get out to meet more potential clients, and ultimately help more businesses achieve their goals.”
Sue Young commented, “I am really looking forward to the new challenge of working with Forward. It is an exciting time to join a young, ambitious business and I am delighted to be able to contribute to that growth and support the great services Sarah, Rob and Fiona are providing to their clients.”

Management buy outs are another way of buying or selling a business – it is a sale of the business to a management team. However, in most cases, you as a group of managers will not have the funds to buy the business and will require assistance from banks, private equity and the vendor.
As businesses revenue streams and service delivery continue to evolve, the debt market tends to follow suit. Access to sufficient liquidity is critical for financing working capital, growth, capex, and a partial/full exit. Whether you are an asset heavy, or more service orientated operator, there are a broad range of debt finance instruments available to help meet both your current, and future cash requirements.
