Forward Corporate Finance is pleased to announce the investment by Lyceum Capital into DMC Canotec, a UK-headquartered managed print and document management services business.
DMC Canotec was established in 1991 by chief executive Jon Hill and business partner Justin Nicholson. Simon Davey joined the company as managing director in 2016 and revenues have grown by almost a quarter since his appointment. Lyceum sees the opportunity to build DMC into a consolidator of what is a fragmented market, with 300 companies in the UK.
Forward Corporate Finance provided financial analysis and modelling support for the acquisition, including analysis of historical performance and development of a fully integrated forecast model to support the investment case for both equity and debt funding.
Commenting on the transaction Luke Kingston, Partner at Lyceum said: “Forward Corporate Finance provided invaluable support to us throughout the deal. They worked closely with the DMC management team to pull together the key metrics and historical information, and to identify the key business growth drivers. Their experience in private equity transactions was a massive help to us in gathering the quality of information we needed to complete the transaction.”
Forward Corporate Finance Director, Sarah Moores, commented, “It has been a pleasure to work again with Luke and Tom from Lyceum on this latest investment. DMC Canotec is a fantastic business, and we wish Jon and Simon every success in this next stage of their business’s development.”
At Forward, we help owners and managers of businesses to plan for, and achieve their strategic goals. Whether it is a business sale, structuring and completing a management buy out or making a strategic acquisition, we are committed to delivering success for our clients.

Management buy outs are another way of buying or selling a business – it is a sale of the business to a management team. However, in most cases, you as a group of managers will not have the funds to buy the business and will require assistance from banks, private equity and the vendor.
The right strategic acquisition, well planned and well executed, can be an excellent way to make a step change towards growing your business. Organic growth is tough. However, an acquisition in the UK or abroad is no magic bullet either and needs to be carefully planned, executed and integrated.
